Motorcycle Ratchet Tie Down Straps for Motorcycle Securement

Motorcycle Ratchet Straps are designed to provide peace of mind while transporting motorcycles such as Cruisers, Touring Bikes, Sports Bikes, Dirt Bikes, or Dual Purpose Motorcycles across town or until they reach their next destination. Although, we are certain you would much rather be riding your motorcycle to the next destination, having an alternative method to help you get your ride there safely is important.

Our Motorcycle Ratchet Straps are made from a heavy-duty premium polyester webbing material blend that helps to ensure your bike will not budge out of place once it is properly secured. Polyester Webbing is the ideal tie-down webbing of choice as it stretches very little and provides a great amount of strength to ensure the highest levels of safety are met. Alternative tie-down webbing blends such as nylon may cause excessive stretching which can cause your motorcycle to move around during transit and risk it potentially tipping over or becoming damaged.

This is one of the many reasons why it is important to use premium tie-down webbing and find the ideal working load limit strap for your motorcycle securement needs. Working Load Limit (WLL) ratings were created to help keep you and other motorists on the roadways safe while transporting motorcycles or cargo as they take the breaking strength or ultimate point until failure and divide that number by three. A tie-down strap with a 3,333 lbs working load limit would have an ultimate breaking strength of 10,000 lbs of force before failure for example.

Working Load Limits are designed to prevent a sudden brake from an animal running in front of you, going too fast around a sharp corner, or even a sudden acceleration motion from potentially tipping over your motorcycle. You can find the working load limit rating for your securement application by taking the weight of the motorcycle or cargo and pairing it with straps equal to the weight of the cargo.

Additionally, using multiple motorcycle ratchet straps increases the working load limit rating as the working load limit is determined per strap used. It’s also never a bad idea to use more tie-down straps for the slight chance that a strap was to break during transit as well as help balance your motorcycle. We have various tie-down straps designed for various securement locations on motorcycles, such as our popular motorcycle handlebar straps, 1-inch heavy-duty ratchet straps with s hooks, and a full selection of customizable tie-down straps.

These are the preferred ways to transport motorcycles safely and prevent the motorcycles from becoming damaged from improper securement.

What are the most common Motorcycle Ratchet Strap Widths? – The most commonly used by far for motorcycle securement is 1-inch wide ratchet straps that are normally paired with motorcycle handlebar straps. Despite their small physical size they are incredibly strong and used to secure some of the heaviest motorcycles on the road. Sometimes you may see 2-inch Ratchet Straps securing motorcycles or dirtbikes but due to the risk of increasing scratches on the motorcycle, they are not recommended for motorcycles with chrome or paint.

What are ways to protect the paint when using Motorcycle Straps? – One of the best ways to protect the paint on motorcycles such as the tank is by using fleece strap protectors that utilize a soft material that prevents polyester webbing from rubbing against the tank.
